Our Community Welcome to Spirit Wind's community family. We dedicate this area on our web site to tell the history of Women's Hand Drum in our Aboriginal circle in Toronto and in the surrounding area and to the people who have supported us with their creative gifts.
The first day of summer - June 21, is celebrated by the Native People of Canada as National Aboriginal Day also known as International Peace and Prayer Day. Here in Toronto, we celebrate with a Peace March, commonly known as the Buffalo Jump. This past year, 2005, we gathered at the south-west corner of Nathan
Phillips Square, Toronto's City Hall. The morning started with a Sunrise Ceremony at 5:30 am, followed by a
breakfast for the participants. Marching drumming, and singing with a common understanding that we support Peace, through healing songs, we convey a message of peace, love, and unity. ~ Cindy Sharma
